Start a Good Conversation...
We all know that good conversations begin with a smile and a genuine interest in the other person. When you meet another boater, be sure to engage in conversation about their boating interests – e.g., how they got interested in boating, what kind of boating they enjoy, how long they've been boating, what they'd like to try, and where they'd like to go next.
Their answers are an entree to sharing what you enjoy and activities and programs that your club is offering that might interest them. Invite them to your club's next educational, social, or boating activity; and when they come, introduce them to other members who share their interests.
Make follow-up easy: Exchange texts so you have each other's mobile contact, or give them your personal card. (Need help? USPS has business card templates online with Vistaprint, partner Office Depot/Office Max can help you design your card in keeping with USPS branding guidelines, and the D26 Aide can help you design a card that you can print at home on Avery 5871 or other card stock.)
Show them how to download America's Boating Club's free mobile app and set up an account on their phone... give them a club brochure... invite them for a Vessel Safety Check... whatever they'd find beneficial.
