D26 Support to Our Clubs

Training & Operational Support

  

D26 educational officers and committee members provide training and operational support to:

  • Educational Officers and Assistant Officers

  • Instructors

  • Course Administrators

Our goals are to help:

  • Each volunteer's job to be easier and more rewarding 

  • Local clubs to have educational programs that meet the needs of their members and boating community.

D26 support includes:

  • Job Training

    • Annual job training for new and returning officers

    • Instructor recertification training

    • Other training as needed – individually, in groups, and at conferences.

    • Maintaining a library of training materials

  • Sharing National Educational Department News

    • From leadership calls with district educational officers

    • From National meetings and workshops​

    • Promoting D26 clubs competitiveness in National educational award programs (Chapman Award, Teaching Aids)

  • Promoting Collaboration and Shared Experience in D26 via

    • In-person conversations, phone calls, email, and conference calls

    • Workshops and conferences

    • Support to collaborative teaching

 

  • Serving as a Help Desk

    • Answering questions about USPS/America's Boating Club curriculum

    • Helping clubs register classes and promote them to target audiences

    • Helping with lesson planning, including on-water training and use of teaching aids

Problem Solving & Advocacy

  

D26 educational officers are responsible to:

  • Consult with National Education Department leadership to clarify questions of policy and procedure or highlight problem areas for further consideration. 

  • Provide feedback to National Educational Department leadership and advocate on behalf of D26 clubs in the curriculum arena.

 

D26 educational officers should be the first-place educational teams go beyond their club for help solving problems or to raise issues. Contact the D26 Educational Officer.
